It makes sense then that Thanksgiving day also has the highest total of 911 calls for kitchen fires of any day in the year. Here’s a video offering some good advice about how to avoid kitchen fires and how to react if they do happen.

Stay in the kitchen while cooking
Keep flammable objects like oven mitts away from the stove
Never throw water on a grease fire
Slide a lid over a pan on fire
Baking soda can help to put out the fire
Keep a fire extinguisher in the kitchen & know how to use it
Call 911 immediately
